This guide is for Dubai villa owners planning a garden — a full design-and-build, a softscape refresh, or just adding irrigation and lighting that survives the summer. Figures are indicative planning bands from current UAE work, not a quote. Landscaping cost is mostly hardscape area, planting maturity and water management, so the right number follows a site visit and a planting plan.
Indicative bands by element
| Element | What it covers | Indicative rate |
|---|---|---|
| Garden design | Concept, planting plan, setting-out | AED 6,000–25,000 |
| Hardscape | Porcelain/stone paving, steps, low walls | AED 180–550 / sqm |
| Softscape | Topsoil, planting, lawn/turf, mulch | AED 60–250 / sqm |
| Irrigation | Drip/spray zones, controller, source connection | AED 35–80 / sqm |
| Outdoor lighting | Path, uplight, feature, transformer/circuits | AED 12,000–45,000 |
By garden scope
| Scope | Typical villa | Indicative range |
|---|---|---|
| Softscape refresh | Planting + irrigation tune, no hardscape | AED 20,000–60,000 |
| Mid design-build | Paving, planting, irrigation, lighting | AED 80,000–220,000 |
| Full estate garden | Large hardscape, mature planting, features | AED 250,000–600,000+ |
What a garden's cost turns on
- Hardscape area. Paving, decking and walls are the single biggest line in most gardens.
- Planting maturity. Instant impact from semi-mature trees and large specimens costs far more than young stock that fills in over seasons.
- Water management. Drip vs spray, smart control and the source connection affect both install and running cost.
- Site access. Tight villa side-access for soil, stone and trees adds handling time.
- Levels and drainage. Sloped plots, retaining and surface drainage add engineering.
- Community rules. Boundary, screening and NOC requirements vary by community and shape the design.
- Aftercare. A planting establishment period and a maintenance plan protect the spend — and are a real budget line.
What a landscaping quote covers
Covered: a free site visit, an itemised quote, design and planting plan, in-house build of hardscape, softscape, irrigation and lighting coordination, community/NOC guidance where required, and a written workmanship guarantee with the period stated in your handover documents.
Not assumed: a watering source extension where none exists, ongoing maintenance unless contracted, and plant-establishment cover beyond the stated period — all flagged and scoped, never assumed.
A practical note from experience: in UAE conditions we set irrigation to the planting before handover and recommend a maintenance plan, because the failure point for a Dubai garden is rarely the build — it's the first two unattended summers. We design the garden, build it, and can look after it; we don't drop off planting and leave it to chance.
